The Social Democratic (Ireland) believes insufficient is being done to support parents in terms of childcare, parental leave, supports for new parents, and basic public services for children. The New Deal policy puts parents and children at the heart of government policies and proposes the following measures: right to flexible work options; helping with costs of raising children; respecting and supporting all childcare choices; public services in education and health that parents can count on; ending child poverty; promoting healthy and active lifestyles; and protecting children on-line.
