Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand: Housing and Sustainable Community Policy (EN)

Overview and Use Case

The Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand is driven by people who know that protecting the planet and supporting communities go hand in hand. The party was formed in 1990 and believes government must do more to protect the planet, honoring the thousands of years of traditional and local knowledge to support a safe climate and healthy communities. According to the housing and sustainable community policy, affordable, quality housing is a right and no one should have to pay more than 30% of their income for a decent home. Renting should be affordable, stable and ensure living standards and homelessness should be ended. The policy promotes the provision of a range of sustainable non-market and market housing solutions.
