The ANC policy on education, health, science and technology outlines ANC decisions on science with specific regard to: investment in research, development and innovation and support for grassroots and social innovations; development of science literacy programmes with a focus on village and township communities and creation of WiFi spots in rural areas; investment in the digital economy as a means of creating new jobs; and increase in uptake of locally produced technologies. In education, the policy reinforces education as an apex priority;, focusing on preparation of young people for life, higher education and training programmes including technical, vocational and occupational and the world of work. Early Childhood development must be optimised and programmes to improve literacy and numeracy or learners must be intensified. On health, the ANC policy reaffirms its resolutions on the National Health Insurance (NHI) and its implementation, improvement of the national health system and training of health professionals.
